Mapping Women’s Stories

Mapping Women’s Stories – 2020-2021

“Mapping Women’s Stories” is a research and multidisciplinary immersive exhibition project, which reveals the intimate stories of women who have been victims of physical, psychological and mental abuse from childhood to adulthood.

The project consisted of three parts:

First part: A research was done, during which we discovered and met with women, who were daring enough to talk about their stories. We made documentations, recordings, shootings, photos; mapping of what they have talked about. We also made psychological consultation and art therapy sessions with them. The expert psychologist had art therapy sessions with women and worked with various methodologies to give them techniques for overcoming difficult situations and finding solutions. The report, in a form of brochure, has been published based on the research.

Second part: A multidisciplinary immersive exhibition was organized, during which all the documentations, collected during the research program and the final brochure with women’s stories, were exhibited via projection, audio-recording, videography, visual-text documentation, mapping, etc. The project also included contemporary dance performances, that reflect women’s stories through performing arts, which have been performed during the exhibition.

Third part: A movie-documentation of the project has been created, in which the whole project is presented in interviews with women, extracts from the dance performances and interviews with the working team.

The project has been supported by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Caucasus.
