“Unlimited movement” was implemented by a group of US Government-funded educational exchange programs. Within the framework of the “Unlimited Movement” program, individuals with disabilities are invited to promote physical and artistic freedom for all persons with disabilities. The three-pronged program began with a flash mob of professional and amateur dancers, some of whom had disabilities, on the steps of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts in October 2016.
The second part of “Unlimited Movement” was a short documentary which premiered in December 2016 at the Armenian General Benevolent Union inYerevan. It told the story of the Centaur Association of Animal Therapy and Equestrian Sports, a facility unique in the region which specializes in using animals to provide therapy for people living with disabilities.
And the most recent element of “Unlimited Movement” were two inclusive dance performance that was staged at the Goy Theater on February 24th and 25th, 2017. In this performances, dancers of all abilities and ages took the stage together for a two-part production, the first one; ”We” inclusive dance performance, created by the MIHR Theatre and music by the Tiezerk Band, is a modern interpretation of the society’s struggle with social inclusion, and the second one: “Alice’’ created by the Arina Araratyan Dance Theater, is a charming adaptation of “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.”
The project has been supported by the U.S. State Department.
