The contemporary dance performance Lavash is the result of the first ever collaboration between Armenian and Israeli artists.
It is dedicated to the 100 years commemoration of the Armenian Genocide and has been premiered in 2015.
The various stages in the preparation of the national bread Lavash serve as the linear progression of the piece and offer powerful images resonating with the theme of genocide. The Genocide has left a large dark spot in the history of Armenians and Jews. Culture in all its forms is the foundation of the nation, and the preparation of bread contains the secret of life and survival. The five performers undergo transformations together with the ingredients of the bread and endorse changing symbolic meanings.
The three members of Tiezerk Band perform their original music live.
